Moon - DVD
Directed by: Duncan Jones Starring: Sam Rockwell, Kevin Spacey Running time: 97 min. R - 2009 The film "Moon" is sci fi psychological thriller that stars Sam Rockwell who has been contracted to work on the moon for three years. Along with a super computer (voiced by Kevin Spacey) Sam slowly becomes aware that his mission isn't what it seems to be. This movie offers enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of you seat throughout despite the minimal cast. I definitely recommend this film and its worth a rental. Good.
Absolutely brilliant
The character development is so strong that Sam Rockwell role has proved what a top level actor he is. This is one of those rare movies where you can connect with the character so much that you want him to be real, because while you're watching him he seems real. It's absolutely beautiful acting & writing. The story is incredibly simple but it's presented in a way that it keeps unfolding itself throughout the entire movie. There is a twist, but the twist is early in the movie (which is rare). The rest of the movie is the character facing the reality of the twist, going through emotions & realizations that are gripping in a very subtle & true way. This is not a thriller, it's not a movie you just watch for entertainment, it's very engaging. I cannot recommend it enough for people that enjoy quality story-telling.
Moon Blue-ray is very good.
This was very good. It wasn't clear at the beginning where the plot would go. The ending was very surprising despite being very plausible. This was a nice surprise considering most SYFY have common plots. It is NOT a shoot-um-up show. It did keep me interested and was thought provoking. Bottom line I don't resent the money I spent, or the time spent watching it. I do recommend it for seasoned SYFY watchers.
Received MOON
HI All, Received MOON in the mail within the last few weeks, but have not had the time to view it.
Mutiny on the dark side of the Moon
The product description calls this a cerebral sci-fi film. I couldn't come up with a better label. So, let it stand. Energy companies don't have it easy these days. Whatever goes wrong with their honest attempts at making a buck and solving the Earth's biggest problems will be thrown back at them through accusations and interrogations and committees. Lunar Industries does something great: they are mining the backside of the moon for the fuel that provides clean energy on Earth: Helium 3. The station is run by one man and a robot: Sam Bell and Gerty. The latter has Kevin Spacey's voice. Sam has contracted for a 3 year term, which is nearly up. 3 years, he finds, was way way way too long. Sam thinks he is the boss and Gerty is programmed to help him. Quickly we smell a problem between the two: Gerty seems to be on the way to usurp power. Complications start when Sam has an accident on an outside mission... The story really works better if you do not know it in advance, so I will not tell you more here. You just have to believe me when I say that this is a superior sci-fi story. I will admit, though, that non-afficionados of the genre may find the going slow. I will also admit, following some comments, that the plot has its holes. Which sci-fi story doesn't require the suspension of disbelief here and there? (Upon second thought, I withdraw one star for this reason, thanks to the shrimp.)
